Punt Beer Informers

Come and enjoy a guided tour of the Festival with a tasting included! Starting from the Beer Informers’ meeting point, small groups of participants will visit the main points of attention of the Festival, with the chance to taste 3 different beers with detailed explanations from the activity’s guide. Ho fermentarem tot!

Fermentation is the key to the world of beer, but what do we know about this chemical process? In this activity, Jordi Coromines (chef and owner of the restaurant L’Horta de Tavertet, and nominated for chef of the year in 2018) and Pol Torrent (biochemist and restaurant collaborator) will lead us into a theoretical-practical introduction to the fermentation of vegetables, with a small tasting included. Cicerone: estilos y vocabulario

BBF joins forces again with the Cicerone® Certification Program, which trains and certifies beer enthusiasts and professionals for the improvement of the consumer’s experience. In this session you will be presented to the main styles of beer and its vocabulary, to learn to talk about each beer with the right language and terminology. Brewdog: an extreme tasting

In this activity, we will have the chance to meet Martin Dickie, the founder of Brewdog and of most of what we regard as Craft in Europe today, who along with the Scottish brewery’s head of quality, Fraser Gormley, has prepared a session in which we will learn first hand the ethos of the brand and we will do a guided tasting of some of their most exclusive and difficult-to-obtain beers. Come and enjoy the country’s traditional charcuterie in this delightful sausage and craft beer pairing: two worlds that fit together perfecty. The activity, with explanations about elaboration, history and anecdotes about sausages in Catalonia, will coutn with the Fundació Oficis de la Carn, born with the intention of being an entity to dignify, promote and maintain traditional meat-related jobs and products of Catalonia. The Guild of Manufacturers of Art and Natural Beer (GECAN) prepares an open event to present the main achievements resulting from their action during last year: proposal for the modification of the Law on Special Taxes (Arola and Commission on Special Taxes), the Best Practices Guide for Craft Breweries (Anna Hereu and Kike Hernández) and the study State of Craft Beer in Catalonia 2018 (Judit Càrtex and Mikel Rius). Barrel Aging & Blending, with BFM

This year we are honoured to receive at the Barcelona Beer Festival one of the most unique and admired European breweries. The Brasserie des Franches-Montagnes (BFM), from the Jura region (Switzerland), visits us to give us a theoretical session on barrel aging and blending, in which they excel. Live-tasting: Llúpol Lolita

Activity in a rotating live tasting format to get to know to get to know the project to develop Lolita hops, by Bio Lúpulus. 5 Catalan breweries will present a beer made with this 100% Catalan hop: Ales Agullons, JK-Cesc, Moska, Espiga-Hope and Salvadega. For 1 hour, 5 different beers are tasted, 1 from each of the breweries. Participants can make use of social networks to share their feelings with beers, and impressions exchanged with the brewers.
