Cervesa, un ingredient amb moltes opcions

Albert Mendiola, awarded as Cuiner de l’Any (Chef of the Year) 2017 for his good work at the Marimorena restaurant in Sant Boi, prepares a fantastic cooking session with beer in showcooking format, in which he will express his point of view on how to introduce beer as an ingredient for cooking. The assistants will of course try some practical example of it so that everyone can see the delicious results. Unmissable!

Cicerone ®, com excel·lir en el servei de cervesa

The BBF joins forces this year with the Cicerone ® Certification Program, which trains and certifies amateurs and beer professionals to improve the consumer experience. In this first session, there will be a detailed explanation on what aspects to consider when serving beer, from conservation to the act of service itself, and how to make the consumer experience optimal.

Les cerveses Saison, amb la Brasserie Dupont

From the mythical Brasserie Dupont, Gust Simons tells us firsthand what Saisons -or Farmhouse Ales- consist of, how they emerged, their history and evolution, what makes them special, what organoleptic characteristics they present, and of course Dupont’s role on establishing the standard for this type of beer, which has led them to be recognised worldwide by consumers and beer experts.

Aprendre a degustar cervesa, amb Pablo Vijande

Tasting activity led by one of the pioneers of the craft beer scene in our country, Pablo Vijande (Más Malta), who will talk about the process of brewing beer and its basic ingredients, as well as some basic guidelines to understand it better when we taste it. The lecture will of course be accompanied by some beers to test the attendees’ skills!

Art 9 Hores, el repte de crear una cervesa amb pa de reaprofitament

Art Cervesers presents the creation process of their beer Art 9 Hores, which includes among its ingredients the remaining bread left in bakeries at the end of the day. A challenge in the development, which has even involved the variation of the production process at some stages. The session will end with a small guided tasting of this beer, which adds a social and sustainability value to the microbrewing industry.

Live-Tasting amb GECAN

Activity in a rotating live tasting format to get to know 5 breweries from the Gremi d’Elaboradors de Cervesa Artesana i Natural (GECAN): Bripau, Les Clandestines, Cerberus, Hope i As Cervesa. For 1 hour, 10 different beers are tasted, 2 from each of the breweries. Participants can make use of social networks to share their feelings with beers, and impressions exchanged with the brewers.

This year at the Barcelona Beer Festival we are pleased to welcome Melissa Cole, award-winning British writer, sommelier and one of the most influential and respected voices of the brewing industry in the United Kingdom. In a showcooking format, we will present different pairings of beer and food, which will be cooked live, giving details that help us understand the determining elements for the matching to work.

First round of the Sectoral Symposiums cycle of the Barcelona Beer Festival, with the presence of prominent representatives of local microbrewing companies, to talk about and get to know present aspects of the business, the strategy of the different microbreweries and future approaches and conditions, including aspects as the variety and range of beers, access to ingredients, distribution or size.

Seven years of Festival; seven years with our colleagues from El Racó d’en Cesc, a restaurant in the Eixample district that enhances his impeccable culinary offer with a stunning and pioneering beer offer. Sommelier Edgar Rodríguez and chef Toni Romero prepare us a complete new session in showcooking format in which they present their delicious desserts, in conjunction with beer. Do not miss it!

Simposi sectorial: evolució de l’oferta dels gran grups cervesers

First round of the Sectoral Symposiums cycle of the Barcelona Beer Festival, with the presence of prominent representatives of large Spanish beer groups to analyse the evolution of the offer of the respective beer portfolios during the last 10-15 years: the motivations, the strategic and business approach, and the vision on the main attributes that the different consumers look for in beer now and in the future.

Cicerone ®, fonaments del maridatge entre menjar i cervesa

The BBF joins forces this year with the Cicerone ® Certification Program, which trains and certifies amateurs and beer professionals to improve the consumer experience. In this second session the fundamentals of the marriage between beer and food are addressed: a theoretical session to understand the factors that will make us stand out when it comes to uniting beer with our best dishes.

Live Tasting amb Lovaina

As a result of the collaboration of the Barcelona Beer Festival with Visit Leuven, we will learn about the beer reality of this city and surroundings in a rotating Live Tasting format, tasting different beers from big names like Hof ten Doormal, Den Triest, De Docther and Nattelore. A dynamic and intense tasting session, which presents the opportunity to meet and talk with the protagonists of these great Belgian beers.

Diversity and quality of American Craft Beer

The American Brewers Association lands again on our Festival to bring us a tasty seminar in which the assistants can explore the changes in the beer industry in recent years, get a better knowledge of the BA’s action of promoting small and independent craft brewers in the United States and, of course, have a sample of freshly packaged American craft beer.

Tupí de cervesa, les postres de Toni Romero amb formatge asturià i cervesa catalana

When one puts together the best of each house a good output can be expected. A good example of it is the Tupí de Cervesa of chef Toni Romero (El Racó d’en Cesc), which uses cheese from Asturias País de Quesos and beer from Art Cervesers for its preparation. In this showcooking activity the assistant can see the live preparation of this delicious dessert with explanations, details and, of course, a final tasting.

Alchemist, de Vermont al món

We are extremely proud from the Barcelona Beer Festival to receive the people in charge of Alchemist Beer, the Vermont brewery that has amazed and influenced a good part of the beer industry with its IPAs, considered by many to be the best in the world. We will learn about their beer project, how they manage the popularity of their beers … and we will make a small tasting of the special beer that we have brewed in collaboration!

Activity in a rotating live tasting format to get to know 4 of the most lately celebrated breweries from the Spanish craft beer scene: Zeta, Río Azul, Santo Cristo and Caleya. For 1 hour, 8 different beers are tasted, 2 from each of the breweries. Participants can make use of social networks to share their feelings with beers, and impressions exchanged with the brewers.

Maridatge Sensorial V, amb David Moya

Fifth year in a row with David Moya, from 4 Pedres, a pub in the neighbouring city of Badalona. He has prepared an electronic music and beer matching session, playing with our senses to demonstrate how external stimulus can affect our perception of gastronomic products. A stunning activity: 2 hours to change our previous idea about beer tasting.

Cerveses de fermentació espontània, amb Oud Beersel

Monographic activity focused on spontaneous fermentation beers: what are they, what makes them so special, what technical and organoleptic characteristics they do present, or what final products can be found made from this type of beer are some of the questions to be answered by the people leading Oud Beersel, Belgian Lambic blenders, who will also tell us about their trajectory. And there will also be a small tasting.

Pink Boots Society, presentación

The Pink Boots Society comes to the Barcelona Beer Festival to present the collective, tell us who they are or what their objectives are. Several members of the group will talk about their experience, the PBS Collaboration Brew Day concept will be presented, as well as the 2 beers that have been made to date, which can be found in the Meet the Brewer space at the end of the session.

Maridatge de cuina i cervesa amb en Manel Guirado

Showcooking session with gastronome, chef and journalist Manel Guirado, who will prepare a series of spectacular dishes to be paired with beer, all accompanied by the proper explanations so as to learn about each of the recipes, or the aspects that cause them to marry , or not, masterfully different types of beer.

Beer Cocktails, amb Edge Brewing i Balius Bar

Prepare for this session in which the people leading Balius Bar, the Poblenou gastro-cocktail bar, join forces with Edge Brewing to give us great details about the preparation of certain cocktails, in which the beer element will of course be introduced. A small beer cocktail tasting at the end will delight the attendees.
